We tried to list the expectations we had as a neighbourhood business (JustBooks was a neighbourhood library catering to people within a 2-3km radius) from marketing
Things that stood out were -
Cost (small but recurring budget)
Repeatability
Effort (should be low)
We added few more points like -
Reach (restricted reach - mostly sticking to a neighbourhood)
Targetting (specific apartments/layouts within a neighbourhood)
Measurability
We evaluated the marketing options that we were using at that point of time against the expectations we had and it looked pretty depressing! One of the takeaways from this exercise for us at that time was that - if we ever build a hyperlocal marketing solution, we will ensure that expectations of businesses like JustBooks form high priority.
